EVO ICL Cost in Colombia (2026): What the Lens Really Costs vs the US

The EVO ICL is now the fastest-growing refractive procedure worldwide, and it is the one where Colombia's price advantage is smallest in percentage terms but largest in dollars. Here is why, and what a realistic budget looks like.

Why ICL pricing works differently from LASIK

LASIK pricing is mostly surgeon time and laser amortization. ICL pricing has a hard floor: the lens itself. The EVO Visian ICL is a single-manufacturer implant, sold in a limited number of sizes and powers, and clinics in Colombia import it at roughly the same wholesale cost as clinics in Texas. That means the savings come from surgical fees, facility fees, and anesthesia, not from the implant.

The practical result: a Colombian ICL quote will usually be 40 to 55 percent below a comparable US quote, whereas LASIK is often 60 to 70 percent below. In absolute terms, though, ICL savings per patient are larger because the starting price is higher.

What should be inside the quoted price

Ask for a line-item quote. A complete ICL package in Colombia should include:

Things that are legitimately extra: a companion consultation, an enhancement laser procedure later for residual refractive error, and any retinal evaluation a high myope may need before surgery.

Sizing is the cost driver nobody mentions

ICL size is chosen from measurements of the anterior chamber. If the first lens vaults too high or too low, it has to be exchanged. Good clinics absorb this in the package; some quote a low headline price and then charge a second surgery fee. Ask directly: "If the vault is outside range, is the exchange included?" See our companion piece on ICL vault sizing.

Total-trip math for a US patient

LineColombia tripUS local
Both-eye EVO ICLUSD 4,200-6,800USD 8,000-11,000
Round-trip flight (Miami/Houston/NYC)USD 350-7000
7-8 nights lodgingUSD 400-1,1000
Meals, ground transportUSD 250-4500
All-in estimateUSD 5,200-9,050USD 8,000-11,000

Net saving lands between USD 2,000 and 5,000 for a single patient and roughly doubles for a couple travelling together. Weigh that against the value of being 20 minutes from your surgeon for the first month.

How long you need to stay

Most Colombian surgeons want the sizing scan and a dilated exam on arrival, surgery two to four days later, and a one-week check before you fly. Plan seven to nine nights. Flying home earlier is possible but means your week-one pressure check happens with a US ophthalmologist who did not do the surgery; arrange that before you leave.

Frequently asked questions

Is the EVO ICL cheaper in Colombia than LASIK in the US?

Usually yes. Both-eye EVO ICL in Colombia typically runs USD 4,200 to 6,800, which overlaps with the higher end of US LASIK pricing but is well below US ICL pricing.

Does the price include the lens?

It should. Ask for a line-item quote confirming the lens model, size and power are included, along with any exchange if the vault is out of range.

Why is the ICL more expensive than LASIK everywhere?

The implant is a proprietary manufactured device with a fixed import cost. LASIK has no consumable of comparable price.
